Fear is Respect; Fear is Wisdom

on

‘Jesus said, “Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent (John 17:3)

In reality this is where true knowledge begins.
The person who knows God and fears Him possesses something more valuable than all the combined knowledge of philosophy and science put together. The scientist and philosopher may discover ways to improve this life; the Christian has found the way to eternal life.
That the Christian’s knowledge is more valuable was attested by Jesus when He said, “What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Mark 8:36)

  1. Regards, Jalal. Thank you for your comment. May The Lord bless you today.

  2. I don’t agree. I think God should be loved, not feared. As one Indian saint said- “God is to be worshiped as one beloved, dearer than everything in this life and next life”

    1. Thanks for your thoughts, Flames. I agree that God should be loved as well. Picture a person you love and admire deeply. Do you not also have a deep respect for them as well?
I do claim not only a deep love for the Creator God, but a fear of Him…an immeasurable respect for all He has done, and stand in awe at the redemption I have through His son, Jesus.
Remember, you can quote any wonderful person, but the scriptures are God’s words, and they are holy. See our recent post on Is the Bible True.

      1. I agree with respect and love, but fail to understand fear. Do I love my mom ?- yes, Do I respect her ?- yes. Am I having fear of her ?- Not at all. God is not govt or a military dictator , so that we shd fear him/her. Thats what I believe in. 🙂
